Scott McCown - Harvest House Resident

I am very honored and thankful to be able to claim Christ as my Savior. I am able at this point in my walk to realize I can do nothing without Him. I’m saying this because I know I must first and foremost declare Him and His Holy word as “the” ultimate authority in my life.

I have been a Christian for 10 years. I was saved in 1999 walking the track on the recreation yard at the Orofino State Prison. I was saved and emotionally melted down on that track in Orofino. I sought him with my heart. The peace and joy He showed me that day was life changing and indescribable but I was still young in Christ and “lukewarm” as the Apostle Paul phrased it. It has been a special journey since then with plenty of pitfalls and lessons learned.

It became apparent to me that all those coincidences were His Holy Spirit communicating with me, me the unworthy Scott McCown. Right up to this very day the Lord has sought to bless me and teaches me patience through my prayers. I know by faith they will be answered in his time. Just look at the great and kind people He has put in my path, from my new job, to all my cool friends at Friends. Everywhere I go; good Christian people feed me, support me and love me unconditionally.

God has helped me to find the real Scott again. The Scott I have not known since I was a child, a Scott with possibilities I have yet to imagine. The Lord can and does make us as white as snow, He promises this. Believe me when I tell you He is still going through gallons of Clorox bleach to completely lift the stains that have been ground into the very fabric of my life over the years.

The Holy Spirit, therefore God, told me once early in my Christian journey that I was to become a warrior for Him. I was holding onto a lot of anger at this time in my life. When I received that message I was more than willing to fight for the Lord; perfect, a justified way to express my anger. Not long ago I came to the realization that a warrior of this world was not what He wanted me to be. He meant for me to be a prayer warrior in the ultimate battle that is raging around us everyday. Victory is assured for the side it took me so long to choose. Peace and love to all of you in Christ, Scott.

Quotes:

"Scott is sincere, on task, involved in is recovery, a joy to be around and sincerely loves the Lord. "  Brian

"Scott is kind, helpful, he sees what needs to be done and get things taken care of in his own quiet way. He is a great example of a servant’s heart. It is so great to be around him, he is new in his faith and filled with the wonder of his faith." A friend

"Scott has grown into a man that is on fire for the Lord." Bill

Verse:

I John 4:4 "You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world."
