So far, no has said they think we are not a Friends church. The Fact that we are trying to involve as many as possible in the important decision is evidence that we believe, as George Fox (and the writers of the New Testament) did, that every Christian has within in them, the mind of Christ. We understand that the congregation has an important part of the voice of God towards us.
Our point in discussing who we are was to discern what it is God has given us to do. We believe that God has a vision and goal for us as HLFC. We need to make sure we understand who we are to be. The hope is that that will help us not be swayed from that course by a pastor who God is calling in a different direction. Where is God calling us in relation to outreach to the community and the world? How important is prayer and the scriptures? How important is what happens on Sunday morning? How important are small groups within the body. Those are the type of issues we have before us.
